The PALAMOS NATIONAL Friday 27/06/2008 code 5047 Provisonal Result

***** Update Saturday 05/07/2008 10.00 pm ***** We have 59 pigeons verified to date. This race will close on 150 yards/minute.

 In the lead at the present is Mr & Mrs K Hine of Hayes, Middlesex who clocked at 20.59.25 velocity is 638

Coming a very close second is Mr Danny Staddon of Southampton, Hampshire clocked at 20.04.40 velocity 632

 

Liberation details Friday 27/06/2008

There was rain overnight in Palamos but this has cleared through leaving clear and cooler conditions.

 The 576 athletes of the sky were liberated at 6.30 this morning (Friday) into a light north west wind.

 The wind turns more westerly on route with the possibility of some south west wind approaching the channel.

 Do not forget to verify all the pigeons you clock for this race.

 I will update the phone line at 1 o’clock tomorrow afternoon with news of any arrivals and then at regular intervals throughout the weekend.

 Good luck to everybody and all your pigeons, on this the British Barcelona Club’s premier race of the year!"

253 Members liberated 1503 birds on Saturday 14/6/08 at 06 30 am into a Light West North West Wind

 The birds were liberated at 6.30 am into clear blue skies.

 All birds cleared the site immediately.

 The weather is clear on route with the possibility of showers once they get across the channel.  There is a light west to north west wind.

Please note that after you ring through your first bird verification you will be given a verification number.  This will enable you to be sure that your message has been received.

Friday 13/6/08 - The basket sponsorship prize of £100 was drawn at the  marking yesterday  and was won by basket number 96 sponsored by M Gaiter of Reading. 

The lorry is now in Poitiers with 1,498 pigeons on board.

The weather is warm and sunny.

The forecast for tomorrow is good with a light west wind, changing to light north west on route.

There is a good possibility of an early liberation.

The Club

The British Barcelona Club is known as “The Family Club” due to the marvellous camaraderie between it’s membership, our members are always the first to congratulate another member on whatever success that is gained within or outside the club.

The Blue Riband National Race is what the club is really all about, racing from the extreme distance.

Our membership are drawn from the whole of The British Isles, we have members from Scotland and across the Irish Sea into Ireland as well as England, Wales and The Channel Isles.

Our 2007 Race Programme was Messac, Poitiers, Palamos, Bordeaux and Lamballe.
